Worldwide isotope shortage causes delays in healthcare
Dutch hospitals have been struggling with a shortage of medical isotopes since the beginning of November. This is due to a defect in the Belgian nuclear reactor BR2 that coincides with planned maintenance in the Dutch high flux reactor (HFR) in Petten. That combination resulted in a worldwide supply problem.
